Cuisine of Kuwait and Culture

Kuwait Facts:  Kuwait is a constitutional monarchy situated northeast of Saudi Arabia at northern end of the Persian Gulf, south of Iraq.  The land is low lying desert which is sandy and barren,  The population is 99% Muslim.  Kuwait is a prosperous nation, primarily due to the oil discovered in the 1930's, and they have an unemployment rate of 2.2%.

Food plays a large part in the Kuwaiti culture, with the national dish known as Machboos, consisting mainly of mutton or chicken placed over or mixed with a large amount of prepared rice.  In Kuwait, food is always prepared in large amounts.  It is extremely common to have guests over to share a meal.  Their culture is an infusion of Indian, Persian, Mediterranean and Najdr Cuisine.
